Asus sunsets TN LCD monitors in favor of new 25-inch OLED

Asus positions OLED as the future of esports

Asus has confirmed that it will be sunsetting TN LCD panels in its monitors upon launching its new series of 25-inch OLED monitors designed for the esports industry.

“For years, esports monitors almost exclusively wielded TN panels. Built for pure speed, these monitors made stratospheric refresh rates possible, but they struggled to shake off the limitations of the tech: washed-out colors, shallow contrast, and poor viewing angles, to name a few. The latest OLED panels kick those limitations to the curb,” said Asus.

The new series includes the PG259QWS Ace, XG259QWPG Ace, XG259QDPG and XG259QDNS Ace. Each monitor features 1080p resolution and HDR support, with a peak brightness of 1700 or 1800 nits depending on model. Refresh rates vary from 360Hz up to 720Hz, and the series is split between glossy WOLED  and matte-finish QD-OLED models.
