Remote workers rejoice, as Google Meet and Zoom have jointly announced that they are furthering the interoperability of the two platforms by offering wired HDMI connection support. The update aims to eliminate any hardware hurdles and get meetings up and running quicker by allowing users to present content from one platform to another.

Users will now be able to present content from Google Meet hardware devices to Zoom rooms, and vice versa, via an HDMI connection. The two companies implemented interoperability between the two platforms earlier this year, but the initial update only offered support for “core video conferencing features.” Support for presentations via HDMI is a step towards making the relationship between the platforms more comprehensive and less bare-bones, and it looks like Google is committed towards furthering its relationship with Zoom in the future.
The new update “is designed to make it even easier for our customers and their users to connect and collaborate with people outside of the Meet ecosystem,” reads Google’s blog post.
