iFixit launches its own soldering iron and accessory line

The company says its new FixHub line is "designed for repair enthusiasts, professionals, and beginners alike."

iFixit has announced the launch of its own soldering iron tools aimed at making soldering more accessible to the masses. As the self-repair company mentions that over 1,000 of their own repair guides require a soldering iron, its foray into providing soldering solutions has put emphasis on convenience and portability. The company is making several items available under its new FixHub brand.

iFixit’s soldering iron, called the Smart Soldering Iron, can power up to 100w of heat and is powered via USB-C, meaning it is compatible with many modern phone chargers. Safety features include sleep mode, heat-resistant protective cap, temperature indicator ring light, and fall protection.

The Portable Soldering Station is an all-in-one kit that includes a dual-port battery power supply, allowing users to power two irons at once, or charge a phone while working. iFixit claims that the portable power supply will power over eight hours of continuous soldering on a single charge. Included is a 100w USB-C power source.

Lastly, iFixit’s Soldering Toolkit includes 13 tools packed in a tool roll to make sure users always have the right tool on hand for the job. The list includes a flush cutter, wire stripper, safety glasses, chemical dispensing pen, a tip cleaner, and more.

The FixHub catalog is currently available for preorder at iFixit’s website, priced at $79.95 for the soldering iron, $249.99 for the soldering station, and $299.95 to include the soldering toolkit. Shipping is scheduled to begin on October 15.
