Collector Joel Magee has accrued over 6,000 items of rare Disney memorabilia over the course of 30 years, and now he’s making some room by auctioning off 1,500 pieces.
These items have filled a 30,000 square foot building in Burbank, California, where visitors can preview them before the auction later this month. Auction house Van Eaton Galleries will be handling the event, where enthusiasts will be able to bid on items such as a “doom buggy” vehicle from the Haunted Mansion ride, a rare 1955 Junior Admission Complete Ticket Book, an Original Walt Disney World Magic Kingdom Sign, costumes from various rides and attractions, and even a vehicle from the Dumbo ride.
“It’s really kind of exciting. This is the first time that all of my things have been in the same room at the same time,” Magee told the Associated Press in an interview.
“Some of these items, such as the Dumbo ride vehicle, may go for $200,000 to $300,000. We have trash cans from the park that may go for $5,000 or $6,000, and posters that could reach $50,000 to $60,000,” Van Eaton said.
The Joel Magee Disneyland Collection auction will run from July 17-19, with live, online, phone, and absentee bidding available.
