Nearly 100,000 LG TVs vulnerable to exploit

Here's which models are affected, and what to do about it

Research from cybersecurity firm Bitdefender has uncovered something alarming: over 91,000 LG TVs are currently vulnerable to takeover from bad actors. Multiple models running webOS 4 through 7 possess several vulnerabilities that would allow hackers to get root access to the unit. According to the firm, the vulnerabilities involve the settings that allow users to control the TV’s with their phones. By exploiting the vulnerability, bad actors can gain control of the TV by working around the need for device authentication, giving them complete control.
