Meta launches new smart glasses line with Oakley

New sportswear line features double the battery life of Meta's previous smart glasses and can shoot video in 3K

Over the last several years, Meta has been building up its partnership with Ray-Ban by releasing multiple ranges of AI-powered smart glasses aimed at fashion-conscious consumers. Now, the tech company has introduced a new partnership with Oakley to release smart glasses with an athletic flair. This collaboration with Oakley is a continuation of Meta’s partnership with EssilorLuxottica, which was the catalyst for the first Ray-Ban smart glasses in 2021.

Meta claims that, in addition to features found in its Ray-Ban smart glasses like a front-facing camera, AI integration, and open-ear speakers, the upcoming Oakley smart glasses sport double the battery life of its Ray-Ban line, and are certified IPX4 water-resistant for athletic use. An included charging case can provide up to 48 hours of power. Additionally, the Oakley smart glasses can record video in 3K resolution, as opposed to the 1080p Ray-Bans.

The first Oakley smart glasses model, called the Oakley Meta HSTN, will become available for preorder July 11 for a price of $499. Meta says that the rest of the lineup will be released later this summer for a price of $399.
