Panasonic announced earlier this week the launch of four new 4K professional camcorders, the AG-CX20, HC-X1200, HC-X1600, and HC-X2100. All four 10-bit models can shoot at 4K 60fps, and feature a 24x optical zoom. Panasonic says that they have improved the high-resolution OLED viewfinder, which now feature 1,770 K dots and larger eyecups.
Notably, all four camcorders now support USB-C, which can be used for data transfer, USB tethering, or for powering the device. All models also feature dual SD card slots, an internal ND filter, and two manual control rings. Both the AG-CX20 and HC-X2100 come with a removable handle unit, while the HC-X1600 is compatible with the separately sold handle unit.

On the network front, the series supports 5GHz Wi-Fi, while the AG-CX20 and HC-X2100 are equipped with an ethernet port, which also opens up the option for a LAN connection with a USB LAN conversion adapter. Panasonic also adds: “The AG-CX20/HC-X2100 support RTMP (Real-Time Messaging Protocol)3, allowing live streaming of concerts, sporting event broadcasts, news, etc. to Facebook, YouTube, and others. The AG-CX20 will support the next-generation image transmission protocol SRT in the next firmware upgrade, enabling live streaming with high image quality and low latency.”
According to Panasonic, “This series has been highly acclaimed by directors who record with one-man operations and at other professional filming locations where high mobility and image quality performance are required.”
PetaPixel reports that the new professional camcorders will be available in early March, and will range from $1,299.99 up to $2,199.99.
