Samsung launches $100,000, 89 inch ‘Micro LED’ TV

No word on an international release just yet.

Samsung has announced their first sub-100 inch ‘micro LED’ TV, for the few can that afford it. The 89 inch Samsung Micro LED TV (model MNA89MS1BACXKR) has landed in South Korea for the modest price of $100,000.

The new 89 inch model features 6.4.4ch 120W speaker system, HDR support, WiFi 6, and 6 HDMI ports. Worth noting, however, is that while Samsung is marketing the TV as micro LED, the panels are actually of the less dense mini LED variety. The new model is significantly cheaper than the 110 inch model Samsung released in 2021, which ran for $155,000, but the steep price point still puts this technology out of range for the vast majority of consumers. Still, it could point to what the modern living room may look like in a decade or so as advances continue to be made to the technology.

If the 89 inch model isn’t quite the size you’re looking for, it looks like Samsung will continue to expand the range with more options.
“Starting with the 89-inch model, we will expand the Micro LED lineup to 76, 101, and 114-inch to expand consumers’ ultra-premium TV choices and lead the market by maintaining the super-gap in next-generation display technology,” said Taehwan Hwang, VP of Samsung Electronics Korea, as reported by flatpanelshd.

The MNA89MS1BACXKR is now available in South Korea after launching in China late last year. Samsung has yet to reveal any details about an international release.
