Hot on the heels of announcing the new V-Stripe technology for its QD-OLED monitor panels, Samsung Display has unveiled its 2026 QD-OLED TV model, which the company says achieves a peak brightness of 4500 nits.
“On display for the first time is the 2026 QD-OLED TV model, featuring newly optimized organic materials and supporting a peak brightness of 4,500 nits, among the highest brightness levels achieved for a self-emissive display,” says Samsung Display. “QD-OLED achieves its peak luminance by combining the maximum brightness of each RGB component. Compared to competing products with similar peak brightness, QD-OLED demonstrates the potential for more vivid color reproduction and higher perceptual brightness, further enhancing compatibility with AI-based picture quality optimization technologies.”
As pointed out by FlatPanelsHD, advertising a 4500-nit peak brightness doesn’t necessarily tell the whole story, as it is possible that this metric can only be achieved under certain conditions. Further testing will be necessary on release to confirm true brightness claims, but Samsung’s announcement helps paint a picture of what can be expected of 2026 flagship TVs.
