While dashcams are commonly used to deter would-be criminals from messing with cars, there had not been a similar solution to keep solo joggers from being easy targets. That is no longer the case, thanks to British entrepreneur Tony Rossiter. After his daughter told him she once been followed while jogging, Rossiter developed the Urban Eyes, a vest that features prominent cameras on the front and back.
Now available for preorder, this is technically the second generation of Urban Eyes, featuring a set of improvements over 2020’s original model. Both front- and rear-facing cameras record at 2.5K/30fps with wide-angle lenses. Footage is recorded to an SD card in each camera, which Urban Eyes says is good for 90 minutes of runtime on a single charge. Discreet cameras these are not, and that’s the point. Meant to be prominent and visible, the cameras are operated by a wireless remote with start and stop functionality. Watch the demo above for a full overview of the Urban Eyes’ features.
