At InfoComm 09, Biamp Systems announced the six winners of the second annual Biamp Education in Audio scholarship. The program, in partnership with Syn-Aud-Con, provides individuals an opportunity to further their education in basic audio technology. Each winner’s scholarship covers tuition for a Syn-Aud-Con seminar, and reimbursement of meals and lodging costs during the in-depth training session.

Scholarships were awarded to the following individuals:

  • Darin Meadows, technician, Compview
  • Joshua Foster, engineer, Sensory Technologies
  • Zeythel Soto, technician, Advanced Techno Products
  • Kerri Cooke, engineer, OENE
  • Fabio Banzato, project manager, Eletro Equip
  • Mark Grassi, engineer, AVI-SPL

Biamp customers nominated 47 individuals to receive the scholarship.

“We are thrilled about how many nominations we received this year,” said Steve Metzger, vice president of business development at Biamp, in a statment. “Based on the feedback from last year’s sessions, I’m positive these six individuals will gain a better understanding about basic audio principles, as well as further their careers in the AV industry.”

The scholarship recipients can choose one from four offered courses: Sound Reinforcement for Operators, Sound Reinforcement for Technicians, Sound Reinforcement for Designers, and Syn-Aud-Con Digital.

Nominees who were not awarded a scholarship will receive one-year memberships to Syn-Aud-Con courtesy of Biamp, as well as complimentary admission to the AV Math Online class provided by the InfoComm Academy.

Biamp now also offers a new training program, the Biamp Education Experience, which provides Biamp customers and employees worldwide with essential AV instruction, company officials also anounced.

“Biamp is committed to improving the knowledge base of our customers, partners, and employees by giving them the best training in the AV industry,” said Metzger. “Expanding Biamp’s training into Biamp Education Experience enables us to deliver a meaningful, consistent training experience to each participant.”

Biamp has provided Audio Certification training at its Beaverton, Ore., headquarters for the past six years, as well as training at three international locations for the past two. The hands-on courses are four days long and aim to enhance AV industry professionals’ knowledge and skill in creating systems with the Audio family of processors.

“Investing in education has always been a top priority for Biamp and our goal is to be recognized as the industry’s global expert in education,” Metzger added. “Biamp Education Experience allows us [to] fulfill both and create a global community of learners.”

The Biamp Education Experience, at biamp.com, features course descriptions, access to the online training modules, training registration, and information for additional resources. The training information is separated by North America and International, so participants can find the courses that best apply to them.
