RT Com Updates Fiber Extenders
RT Com USA announced the introduction of a new version of its OBHD HDMI and OBCA DVI fiber-optic extension products.
RT Com USA announced the introduction of a new version of its OBHD HDMI and OBCA DVI fiber-optic extension products. The updated products offer the same reliability and compatibility of the original models and add versatility and lower cost for deployment, according to the company.
The OBHD-2C and OBCA-2C operate with two strands of multimode or singlemode fiber-optic cable, and company officials said the transmitter and receiver prices are comparable to common Cat-X solutions.
The new solutions from RT Com provide fiber-optic transmitter/receiver pairs that support video resolutions up to 1080p at 60Hz with 36-bit deep color and high bit-rate audio, and computer signals up to 1920×1200.
Both solutions are more compact than their predecessors. The only hurdle an installer needs to overcome, according to the company, is the fear of fiber-optic termination. But officials point out that many field termination kits tout completed fiber terminations in less time than it takes to terminate a BNC connector. Not only that, but fiber optic cable prices are now down to the range of good RGB cable.
