PSECU's Modern Boardroom

Nov 10, 2014 11:56 AM

What was originally slated to be a simple meeting room, turned into a modern, technologically dynamic, executive boardroom for the Pennsylvania State Employees Credit Union (PSECU)—and one of the design highlights of the larger audio-visual project for PSECU’s new headquarters in Harrisburg, Pa.

The technology within the new boardroom supports high-level meetings, executive training, and on-demand, critical communications. The system includes a 90in. high-definition main display from Sharp, separate local monitors for participants on motorized lifts within the custom table, and a finely tuned audio system.

With the design requirements substantially changing mid-project, PSECU turned to Vistacom Audio Video Solutions to assist architect, Crabtree, Rohrbaugh & Associates and Bala Engineering to jump in and facilitate the design changes.

The first challenge was met by managing the design as a standalone project within the greater construction project so as to dedicate project resources and stay on track with the overall deliverables.

The second challenge was with the custom nature of the table and integrating many technical components into the table design. To add to that challenge, the table was designed to be as open as possible with a cantilevered top and without the traditional pedestal supports that typically provide an AV integrator the means and location to house equipment and feed cabling.

“Maintaining the architectural concept of a minimal footprint, Vistacom worked with the millworker to install a small center chase that went all the way around the table,” said Dan Gundry, CTS, senior account manager and project executive at Vistacom. “This allowed us to install the components that needed to be installed locally and still provide adequate ventilation and access to that equipment.”
