Flash Class: IT Networking for AV Network Structure and Configuration

In this very practical session we will demystify two key fundamentals of modern networking: the OSI model and the IP address. If terms such as Layer 2, Layer 3, VLAN, DHCP, and IP address device discovery and configuration come up in your work (and they should!), this 45-minute investment will cut through the clutter. Our engineering expert will identify the things you most need to know to design for connecting to and/or setting up and troubleshooting your next AV network. These basics will also help you get more out of any networking training you do and will help you choose equipment–especially network switches–more effectively.

This session will cover:

– The structure of Layers 1-4 of the OSI model (Physical, Data, Network, Transport)

– The fundamental best-practices for IP address configuration

– How to connect to the switch and break it into VLANs

– How to “read the matrix” – filter and trap data of interest
