Biamp CCA-80 Aisle Loudspeaker
This innovative, asymmetric, full-range three-way horn speaker is engineered to address the specific acoustic challenges of long aisles and concourses. Designed for optimal speech intelligibility and background music, it delivers a long, rectangular coverage pattern. Key to the CCA-80’s performance is its asymmetric waveguide design, which offers a 6:1 throw ratio. The speaker’s narrow upper horn extends coverage to distant areas, while the wider, attenuated lower portion ensures full audio reach directly beneath the mounting position. Uniquely, the horn is tilted downward within the enclosure, minimizing the need for precise aiming and guaranteeing coverage directly below the speaker. Unlike conventional speakers where SPL (sound pressure level) diminishes with distance, the CCA-80 maintains a consistent SPL across its entire coverage area. This makes it an ideal solution for background music and voice paging in large spaces like warehouses, with mounting heights of up to 36 feet. Its triaxial design delivers full-range sound from 115 Hz to 14 kHz. From the judges: “The CCA-80 Aisle Loudspeaker provides exceptional audio control for integrators looking for a very affordable single speaker that can evenly distribute uniform coverage of audio long distances. Biamp’s CCA-80 speaker yet again demonstrates their commitment to products that make a difference and improve the user and integrators’ experience.”
This versatile point source loudspeaker draws on two of Meyer Sound’s most popular loudspeakers, combining the acoustic lineage of the ULTRA family and technology innovations behind the flagship PANTHER large-format linear line array. It brings precision, power, and clarity into a compact, simple-to-deploy package that is compatible across the Meyer ecosystem. Both the ULTRA-X80 and ULTRA-X82 offer analog and MILAN connectivity as standard, further blending into Meyer’s comprehensive MILAN-equipped range, all compatible with Meyer’s Nebra integrated software platform. ULTRA-X80 is an evolution of the ULTRA family’s innovative concentric-driver design, which couples two 12-inch neodymium-magnet cone drivers to a rotatable 95 x 40-degree waveguide coupled to a 4-inch high-frequency compression driver. It incorporates Meyer’s ultralight Class D amplifier technology for a total linear peak output of 141 dB SPL in a cabinet weighing just 130 lb (59 kg). It’s designed to provide the power, clarity, and performance of multiple line array loudspeakers in a single box. (The ULTRA-X82 variant offers a more tightly focused 50 x 40 degree dispersion pattern at total linear peak of 142 dB SPL.) From the judges: “When a venue needs a point source speaker system to properly meet a design performance goal, the ULTRA-X80 active point source opens up a whole world of opportunity.”
EDC Acoustics Plane Array Technology
Unlike traditional loudspeakers, the Plane Array is a software-defined, multi-beam speaker system that can deliver up to four independent audio beams, each with precise control over direction, coverage, and dispersion. This level of control allows users to shape sound to match environments such as theaters, houses of worship, and live event spaces. What sets the Plane Array apart is its seamless integration with a LiDAR-powered app. The app uses LiDAR scanning to capture the dimensions and layout of the space in real time, enabling automatic configuration of each audio beam. This reduces setup time, ensuring optimal sound coverage and minimizing unwanted reflections or dead zones without manual tuning. Users can fine-tune horizontal and vertical coverage, skew, tilt, and pan to suit a variety of acoustic environments. The software-defined nature of the system allows for updates and improvements through firmware and software upgrades. From the judges: “EDC Acoustics Plane Array Technology is an interesting development for new venue design, as well as retrofit projects. The ability to use LiDAR scanning within the app to fine-tune system performance quickly and optimize system configurations is exciting. Overall, I’m thrilled to see the direction that EDC Acoustics is taking professional audio system design.”
