EMERYVILLE, CALIF., Feb. 18, 2020 – Advanced Systems Group (ASG), a leading media technology and engineering firm, today announced it is a founding member and sponsor of Silicon Valley Video (SV.V), a new international information resource for tech industry leaders in the San Francisco Bay Area. The association’s first event, “IP Academy,” will be held March 12 at 5 p.m. at LinkedIn Studios in Mountain View, Calif. Registration is free to qualified video professionals at siliconvalley.video.
“IP Academy” will discuss the benefits and potential drawbacks of moving to an IP-based infrastructure in today’s corporate video environment. Gary D. Schneider, manager of broadcast systems engineering and lead media systems architect for LinkedIn Corporation, will serve as conference chair and keynote speaker. The four-hour program will also include dinner, networking opportunities, panel discussions with video technology experts, and tours of the LinkedIn production facilities.
Produced in association with Sports Video Group, which has supported the professional sports production industry since 2006, SV.V is dedicated to developing educational resources for the video production teams of Silicon Valley tech companies. Industry leaders will serve on an advisory board to help the association produce events and provide platforms for professional development. A portion of all SV.V proceeds will support local community causes and initiatives.
“We are very proud to be a founding member and sponsor of Silicon Valley Video, because we want to encourage innovation in our industry,” said Dave Van Hoy, president of ASG. “This association was developed to help video professionals throughout the Bay Area improve their skills and stay current on our industry’s constantly changing technologies. Our first event is a great way to launch this initiative, with a look inside LinkedIn’s very successful operation coupled with a timely discussion on IP-based workflows.”
SV.V has also scheduled a networking event on April 20 at the 2020 NAB Show at the OMNIA Nightclub inside Caesars Palace in Las Vegas, Nev., as well as a post-NAB briefing on May 20 at the Bourbon Steak & Pub at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, Calif.
