BenQ’s LU9800 Projector Defies Extreme Environmental Challenges at the Washington State Fair

Designer and integrator Kids Jump Tech worked closely with BenQ to produce vivid, high-contrast images even under the harshest ambient light. The LU9800 delivered an exceptional digital experience for fair attendees in a physically challenging environment containing elements like dust, bright sunlight, and unique mounting constraints.

To captivate younger audiences, fair organizers created an interactive digital projection area designed specifically for children. Located in one of the fair’s agricultural barns, this installation offered kids an opportunity to engage with a fun game that’s projected directly onto the barn floor. The barn’s design posed challenges for projection: abundant windows washed out images, concrete floors absorbed light, and the ceiling made mounting difficult. Dust from livestock and fair activities also threatened the projector’s internal components, causing overheating and frequent maintenance. To address these obstacles, Kids Jump Tech chose the BenQ LU9800 laser projector, a high-performance projector specifically designed for demanding large venues, simulations, and museum applications.
The 10,000 ANSI lumen LU9800 overcomes the impossible, with its motorized zoom, focus, and lens shift features that proved invaluable during setup, allowing for precise image adjustments. The projector delivers exceptional WUXGA (1920 x 1200) native resolution and cinematic 95% Rec. 709 color coverage and accuracy that will not yellow over time. Additionally, the LU9800’s fully enclosed, IP5X-rated laser engine effectively combats dust, ensuring continuous operation without the need for frequent maintenance. This dustproof design protected the projector from barn particles, extending its lifespan and reducing upkeep for future use.
