Conference Calls an Easy Lift for German Bionic U.S. Headquarters

German Bionic is making headlines for its smart power suits and other wearable technologies. As the world’s first company to bring connected exoskeletons to the workplace, German Bionic is changing the nature of manual labor and improving workplace safety by providing up to 66 lbs (30 kg) of support for the lower back per each lifting movement.

With offices in Boston, Berlin, Augsburg, and Tokyo, the German Bionic team holds regular conference calls with members and customers from across the globe. The staff working from the recently-opened U.S. Headquarters in Boston, Massachusetts joins company meetings from their impressive boardroom using the Hybrid Room Ready Bundle. The all-in-one conferencing solution features Yamaha’s ADECIA Ceiling Microphone and Line Array Speaker Solution (Yamaha’s RM-CG Microphone, RM-CR Audio Processor, Network Switch, and Line Array Speakers), AVer’s 550 Camera, and Lenovo’s ThinkSmart Core & Controller, with all components certified for Zoom and Microsoft Teams.

German Bionic’s rapid growth, albiet exciting, has come with challenges. With offices spanning across numerous countries, the company relies mostly on virtual meetings to collaborate among departments. Each location houses speakers with unique accents and communication styles, creating the potential for communication breakdown. Leadership recognized the necessity of crisp, clear audio for the success of these conference calls.

After thoroughly testing various UC systems, Yamaha Unified Communications emerged as the optimal choice, thanks to its exceptionally intelligible audio, versatility, and ease of installation.

“The Hybrid Room-Ready Solution provides everything we need for successful virtual meetings: great microphone pick-up, high-quality video, and a way to quickly join and get started,” said David Mack, the U.S. General Manager of German Bionic. “The ceiling microphone’s sensitivity completely covers everyone speaking in the room. Plus, the clear output from the line array speakers help us to easily understand our colleagues speaking in foreign dialects and accents.”

The Hybrid Room-Ready Solution lives in the Boston office boardroom, a room that can fit up to 12 people. Yamaha’s Dante-enabled RM-CG Ceiling Microphone was installed by the building’s maintenance staff using the accompanied bracket. From there, the staff performed the necessary auto-configuration to the additional components and auto-tuning to the room, without any assistance from an AV or IT professional. Yamaha’s line array speakers were hung on either side of the room’s television, and AVer’s speaker-tracking camera on an included, easily installed mount directly beneath the TV. Meetings are initiated by the ThinkSmart Core & Controller, placed atop the conference table.

“The set-up went smoother than expected,” said Mack. “As we build out this office for continued growth, it’s helpful to know that we’ve found an easily scalable, software-agnostic solution that can grow with us.”

Though the U.S. German Bionic sales team is spread across the country, the team joins in with the Boston office for hybrid or in-person customer meetings regularly. “Our other German Bionic teams around the world are a bit jealous of our system. When meeting with potential clients on a variety of conferencing platforms, having a professional-sounding set-up is paramount.”

The Boston German Bionic team also uses Yamaha’s Zoom-Certified YVC-330 Personal Bluetooth Speakerphone, featuring Yamaha’s SoundCap Technology, for smaller meetings in a four-person huddle room.
