CRAS Hosts Waves Master Class “From the Mix to the Master” on Dec. 5

Gilbert, Ariz., Nov. 27, 2019 – The Conservatory of Recording Arts & Sciences (CRAS; www.cras.edu), the leading institution for audio engineering education, is proud to announce that it will host “From the Mix to the Master”, an event open and free to the public featuring a full walkthrough of a song from recording session through to mixing and mastering. The evening, hosted by CRAS Women of Audio, will feature presentations by acclaimed mastering engineer Piper Payne and Waves Audio’s own Director of Education and Training Michael Pearson-Adams.

The event will be held on Dec. 5 starting at 7:30pm (doors open at 7:00pm), at CRAS’ Gilbert campus (1205 North Fiesta Blvd.; Gilbert, AZ 85233). Please RSVP at: https://www.waves.com/events/december-2019-from-the-mix-to-the-master

The evening will be opened by Pearson-Adams (mix engineer for Creed, Shakira, Robert Plant, Jimmy Page) as he takes the audience through a recording and mix session that he will be prepping for mastering.

Based out of Nashville, acclaimed mastering engineer and Waves Audio artist Piper Payne (Third Eye Blind, Madame Gandhi) will then take the audience through Pearson-Adams’ mix and explain the good, bad, and the ugly, so that you will leave with a deeper knowledge of how to best prepare your music for the final mastering stage, and ultimately release.

This is not to be missed for those who seek a more holistic understanding of the relationship between the music production process and how the song is perceived by listeners around the world.

“Waves Audio has been a major supporter of the CRAS Women of Audio group  since we formed earlier this year, and they have been involved with the Conservatory for much longer than that,” said Nancy Scharlau Murman, CRAS Women of Audio faculty advisor. “We can’t thank Waves enough for the love and support they have shown us and we would like to give a special thanks to Piper Payne and Michael Pearson-Adams for participating in this event.”

The Conservatory of Recording Arts & Sciences is composed of two nearby campuses in Gilbert and Tempe, Ariz. A CRAS education includes Broadcast Audio, Live Sound, Audio Post for Film and TV, Music Production, Commercial Production and Video Game Audio, all taught by award-winning instructors who have excelled in their individual fields. CRAS’ structured programs and highly qualified teaching staff provide a professional and supportive atmosphere, which is complemented by its small class sizes allowing for individual instruction and assistance for students in engineering audio recordings. For over three decades, CRAS has set the standard in Audio Engineering Education, and is continuously seeking avenues that will keep with the spirit of constantly seeking to raise the bar. The curriculum and equipment are constantly being updated to keep pace with the rapid advancements in the music and sound recording industries. CRAS’ course offerings and subject matter have always centered around the skills and knowledge necessary for students’ success in the audio recording industries.

The 11-month program is designed to allow every student access to learn and train in all of the Conservatory’s studios which are comprised with state-of-the-art audio recording and mixing gear, the same equipment used in today’s finest studios and remote broadcast facilities, including Pro Tools 12, API Legacy consoles, SSL AWS consoles, Studer Vista consoles, and much more. All students must complete a 280-hour industry internship to graduate from the Master Recording Program II that may ultimately lead to industry employment.
