Miami Vineyard Community Church Selects WorxAudio

TrueLine X5 line arrays and UltraWave UW218Si subwoofers deliver exceptional performance

Miami, FL—August 2015… As a nondenominational house of worship with a contemporary vibe, Miami Vineyard Community Church (www.miamivineyard.com) is neighborhood focused and offers its congregation a wide range of programs. Services are engaging and employ both live music and extensive use of video and multimedia. To help keep their services vibrant in their new sanctuary, the church recently deployed a sound reinforcement system drawn from the catalog of WorxAudio® Technologies (www.worxaudio.com), a division of PreSonus® Audio Electronics (www.presonus.com).

Creative Sound and Lighting Solutions, LLC, of Cape Coral, Florida, an AV design/build firm that handles audio, video, lighting, and acoustics for the commercial and church markets, was contracted to design and implement Miami Vineyard Community Church’s new sound system. Rob Robinson, general manager and co-owner of the firm, managed the project. He discussed the installation and his reasons for selecting WorxAudio loudspeaker systems.

Miami Vineyard Community Church’s services are very upbeat and contemporary,” says Robinson. “Their services are a terrific example of how to keep the congregation—both young and old—engaged. Music ranges from hip-hop to jazz and there’s a gospel choir that really keeps the program lively. It was extremely important to church management that the loudspeakers deliver a high level of speech intelligibility, as well as natural sounding music reproduction. Based upon these conversations and observing the services, we knew the WorxAudio system would be the best solution.”

To address the requirements of the project, Robinson and the Creative Sound and Lighting Solutions crew deployed two WorxAudio TrueLine X5i-P All-In-One Compact Line Arrays over the left and right front edges of the stage and splayed each enclosure slightly out toward opposite sides of the room. “We cut, threaded, and painted our own 1.5-inch steel pipe right on site and used the WorxAudio X-MiniBeam and grid to hang the system,” Robinson reports.

For low-frequency support, Robinson and his team selected four WorxAudio UltraWave UW218Si subwoofers, which utilize two direct-radiating, 18-inch, 1200W cone drivers in a tuned enclosure. As the stage is designed in a convex shape that protrudes from the back wall of the sanctuary, Robinson reports the Creative Sound and Lighting Solutions crew built four subwoofer chambers underneath the arced stage so as to maintain a clean, uncluttered appearance.

When queried about those attributes that made the WorxAudio X5 line array and UltraWave UW218Si sub bass enclosures the best choice for the Miami Vineyard project, Robinson offered the follow thoughts. “The sanctuary is nearly 200 feet wide and 80 feet deep,” he explained, “so the 160-degree wide horizontal dispersion provided by the X5 enclosures was very necessary—and perfectly suited— to hit those outside edges of the room without needing additional delay speakers. Since the X5 is an all-in-one design, it also presents a clean, streamlined appearance that doesn’t interfere with line-of-sight considerations. Equally important, the praise and worship band really gets up and running with quite a bit of energy, and the UltraWave UW218Si subs deliver plenty of low end muscle to help keep things lively!”

When deploying sound reinforcement for a project of this scale, questions inevitably arise. When asked for his thoughts regarding WorxAudio’s customer and technical support services, Robinson offered a very positive assessment. “WorxAudio tech support services are first-rate,” he said. “Jeff Page and Hugh Sarvis are both very responsive and get back to us with answers to our questions without ever holding the job up. It’s almost like they’re on site with us.”

Before turning his attention to upcoming projects, Robinson offered these parting comments, “The new sound system at Miami Vineyard is meeting and exceeding everyone’s expectations. People can hear clearly no matter where they are seated, the energy level is very high, and the system has been very well received. I stay in close contact with David Hilberry, the church’s production manager/ front-of-house engineer. He always lets me know just how happy he is with the WorxAudio system and all of the countless positive comments that he receives about the sound. It really couldn’t have turned out any better!”
