BenQ Takes Home Two NewBay Media Best of Show InfoComm Awards

BenQ’s MW853UST Education Projector and BH380 Bar Display Recognized by AV Technology and Digital Signage

COSTA MESA, Calif. — June 25, 2014 —

BenQ America Corp.

, an internationally renowned provider of visual display solutions, Classroom IQ innovations, and the No. 1-selling DLP(R) projector brand in North America(1), today announced that two of its solutions have been recognized with NewBay Media Best of Show Awards at InfoComm 2014 in Las Vegas. The MW853UST ultra short-throw projector and BH380 digital signage bar display were recognized by AV Technology magazine and Digital Signage magazine, respectively.

“These awards are a direct result of BenQ’s dedication to being an innovative provider of solutions for any space, be it the classroom, boardroom, or retail store,” said Bob Wudeck, Associate Vice President, Strategy and Business Development at BenQ America Corp. “We are delighted to receive this recognition from our respected peers in the industry and will continue to develop new solutions that put smart, collaborative products into the hands of students and professionals.”

BenQ’s ultra short-throw MW853UST projector featuring

Colorific(TM)

technology is designed specifically for the connected education sector, bringing enhanced interactivity to projection-based classrooms. To create larger-than-life lesson plans, the projector’s dual-screen capabilities can easily enlarge a learning space’s projection area, allowing up to four participants to collaborate simultaneously on screens as large as 190 inches. Easy to set up and install, the MW853UST features a wall-mount plate integrated directly onto the projector, 3D, PC, and Blu-ray(TM) readiness, and double 10W speakers — creating a complete multimedia solution that turns classrooms into collaborative and engaging learning spaces. The interactive solution also offers superior connectivity with ultra short-throw design and features auto-calibration for easy installation. The device allows teachers and students to interact using up to four PointWrite(TM) pens or via finger-touch technology for simple hands-on collaboration directly on the screen. The MW853UST’s 10,000:1 ultra-sharp contrast ratio, 3,200 ANSI lumens of brightness, and lamp life are enhanced by the SmartEco(TM) technology for long-lasting, reliable, and vibrant images.

Featuring BenQ’s exclusive Colorific technology to produce more than 1 billion life-like colors compared to only 16.7 million from most LCD projectors, the MW853UST combines up to seven different colors to create vibrant, true-to-life images, as opposed to the traditional three-color spectrum from LCD devices. The Colorific projector also delivers up to three times more contrast than similar top-selling LCD models for a brighter, more crisp viewing experience, as well as providing better picture quality over time since DLP displays do not experience light burn or color degradation after extended usage. As a result, educators and business professionals experience a lower total cost of ownership (TCO) over the life of their projector, resulting in reductions in maintenance and replacement costs, while ensuring that image quality always remains the same.

BenQ’s BH380 38-inch bar display enables ultra-widescreen 32:9 signage formats for public transit, restaurant menu boards, ticket kiosks, and more. VESA mountable, the panel can be easily installed and integrated with any existing systems or room configurations. The industrial grade panel is also LED backlit and features an incredible long-lasting backlight life of up to 50,000 hours — making the device ideal for long-term installations that require durability, energy efficiency, and low maintenance costs. The panel boasts a color TFT-LCD screen, 4000:1 native contrast ratio, 1920 x 540 resolution, and high 75-percent rate of uniformity.

An incredibly versatile digital signage solution, the space-saving BH380 features 1500 nits of ultra-high brightness and 176/176-degree wide viewing angles for increased visibility without any artifacts — resulting in impactful visual communication and anywhere/anytime information displays. The BH380 boasts an incredibly thin form factor and can be used in either portrait or landscape mode to facilitate compatibility with any environment or background, such as subway cars, take-out signage applications, and information kiosks. For full connection flexibility, the panel also accepts DVI and VGA signal interfaces and includes three USB ports to enable users to plug it directly into an existing system for even easier installation.

The awards were presented on the InfoComm show floor and were selected by panels of professional users and editors, as well as by judges’ inspection at the convention. Winners will be featured in a special Best of Show Awards Program Guide, distributed in digital edition form to readers of Sound & Video Contractor, AV Technology, Digital Signage, ProSound News, ProAudio Review, Mix, Music Festival Business, and Government Video after InfoComm 2014.
