TVU Networks to Showcase End-to-End IP Video Ecosystem at NAB 2017

Enhanced Line of IP-based Products and Services Delivers Increased Workflow Efficiency and Flexibility for Broadcasters

MOUNTAIN VIEW, CA –  At the upcoming NAB Show, TVU Networks, the global technology and innovation leader in live IP video solutions, will showcase its end-to-end IP-based ecosystem of hardware and software products, workflows and services designed for live video acquisition, production and operational efficiency. TVU Networks will introduce several new products and technologies at NAB, including its TVU One mobile uplink solution with support for the HEVC compression standard, TVU Producer, a web-based application for producing live content for social media, an update of the company’s cloud-based centralized management solution, TVU Command Center, an Open API integration with the Associated Press’ AP ENPS news production system and new TVU Router, which delivers over 200Mbps of reliable, stable and high-speed Internet connectivity remotely. Additionally, TVU will showcase the version 3.0 software update for the popular RPS (Remote Production System), version 6.0 update for TVU portable transmitters, and a new version of the TVU Transceiver featuring support for SMPTE 2022-6/7 high bit-rate IP output. TVU Networks will exhibit at NAB 2017 in booth #C3739.

“The focus of our TVU Ecosystem is to make broadcasters’ operations more efficient through automation and workflow integration,” said Paul Shen, CEO, TVU Networks. “All of the new technologies and enhancements that we’ll debut at NAB place an emphasis on better performance and efficiency through an IP-based video workflow. Designed to seamlessly fit into and improve a broadcaster’s existing workflow, our video ecosystem encompasses all areas of production, from acquisition to management.”

TVU Networks will introduce more efficient live video acquisition with the availability of its TVU One live mobile IP newsgathering transmitter with support for the H.265/HEVC (high-efficiency video codec) compression standard, which requires less data transmission. The compact solution delivers high-quality IP video transmission performance and features the company’s patented Inverse Statmux Plus (IS+) transmission algorithm to transmit dependable HD quality video with less than one second latency. It’s available with embedded modems and can transmit simultaneously over multiple mediums, including cellular, microwave, MIMO microwave mesh, Ka-band and Ku-band satellite, BGAN, WiFi, and Ethernet.

The company will also introduce a new solution for web-based live production, TVU Producer. Running completely on an existing TVU Transceiver, TVU Producer enables broadcasters to easily produce live content to social media. Featuring a simple Web interface and support for Facebook API, TVU Producer makes it possible for a station’s digital producer to work within the same broadcast workflow as the traditional TV producer. With TVU Producer, users can seamlessly switch between incoming TVU transmitter sources, SDI inputs and uploaded video slate sources, add a graphic overlay and stream the produced output to popular social media sites such as Facebook Live and YouTube Live.

Additionally, the company will show an updated version of its TVU Command Center, which offers centralized remote management and control of all of a user’s TVU products and services. As a cloud-based solution, TVU Command Center offers the convenience of remote access from anywhere with an Internet connection. The product update includes a new multiview function that displays preview monitoring of multiple transceiver streams on a single Web interface.

TVU will also highlight new company partnerships at the show, including its new integration with the AP ENPS news production management system for an advanced newsroom content acquisition workflow. TVU and AP are partnering to streamline the field newsgathering workflow process with metadata-based linkage of media content to specific news story assignments at the point of acquisition. The integration automates and accelerates transfer and ingest of the linked content to the studio and within newsroom production solutions using a combination of AP technology with TVU’s new Progressive Download feature, which automatically mirrors content recorded in high-resolution to the TVU transmitter’s internal SSD, making it immediately available for transfer to editing solutions.

Another brand new offering at NAB will be the TVU Router solution, which can deliver over 200Mbps of secure, reliable, high-speed and untethered Internet connectivity remotely. Now offered as a software option for TVUPack and TVU One users, TVU Router allows for the easy sending and receiving of IP-based data from a remote location to any other location using the Internet. With TVU Router as a portable field access point, users can transfer and receive files, stream video, search the web, utilize any IP connected device or service to pass data and more for a high speed, reliable and secure data connection.

TVU will also demonstrate version 6.0 for TVU portable transmitters and RPS version 3.0.  Version 6.0 for TVU portable transmitters introduces several new features including Progressive Download which streamlines field production by sending at high-speed a mirror-image, error-free copy of the camcorders recorded content to the studio as it is being shot, greatly streamlining news acquisition. Also included is an all-new VoIP service running on TVU devices for high-quality, two-way communication between the studio and the field. TVU will also introduce optional SMPTE 2022-6/-7 high bit-rate IP output support through the TVU Transceiver for integration with advanced studio IP workflows. In addition, TVU RPS version 3.0 will add the ability to synchronize across multiple unit pairs for additional channels, add a VLAN tunnel in order to connect any IP device between the field and studio and add support for VoIP.
