Kramer Electronics , a worldwide supplier of audio, video, and computer graphics signal distribution, switching, and processing equipment for the broadcast, production, security, education, home theater, and pro AV presentation markets, released the newest addition to its product line, the VP-1201 computer graphics video matrix switcher/scanner.

The Kramer VP-1201 is a 400MHz, high-bandwidth, 12×1 switcher for computer graphics video signals with resolutions ranging from VGA through UXGA on 15-pin HD connectors. In addition to functioning as a 12×1 switcher, the VP-1201 can also operate as a 12-input scanner with a user-selectable switching delay interval of between one and 16 seconds. A unique feature of the VP-1201 is that it can automatically sense the presence of a signal at each input and will display the availability of input signals by lighting up the corresponding input button on the front panel. This feature is known as active input indication reporting.

“The new VP-1201 is a very versatile switcher and scanner for computer graphics video signals,” says Chris Kopin, vice president of product development for Kramer Electronics U.S.A. “The active input indication reporting incorporated into the unit is a very user-friendly feature that will allow them to know at a glance which of the inputs has an active signal.”

The VP-1201 can be controlled remotely over the Internet or via a WAN or LAN through the Ethernet port provided. It can also be controlled directly from the front panel or remotely via RS-232, RS-485, or the included RC-IR1 infrared remote control. For convenient RS-232 control, this model is shipped with K-Router Windows-based control software.

The VP-1201 is dependable and rugged, and it fits in one vertical space of a standard 19in. professional rack enclosure (1RU). It contains a worldwide 100/264 VAC, 50/60Hz, 23VA auto-switching power supply.

The Kramer VP-1201 is now in stock and carries a list price of $995.00.
