In the Edith Macy Conference Center’s 185-seat auditorium, two Yamaha IF2108 installation series loudspeakers are flown center stage and two Yamaha IF2205’s are wall-mounted for side-fills. The auditorium sound system is based around a Yamaha O1V 96 digital console.
Settled among 405 wooded acres overlooking the heart of Westchester County, N.Y., the Edith Macy Conference Center is a place where you can get away from it all and have a productive meeting, if that’s not a contradiction.
Owned by the Girl Scouts of the USA, and just 45 minutes from Manhattan in Briarcliff Manor, the facility has served as a learning center for Girl Scout volunteers and staff members since 1926. Its six corporate conference rooms, 185-seat auditorium, and rustic lodges are open to both nonprofits and for-profits for training events and executive corporate retreats.
In the summer of 2005, contractor and systems design/installation firm, Boulevard Production Specialists, Oradell, N.J., upgraded the 185-seat Peter F. Drucker Auditorium’s video systems so the LCD projection, DVD, and PowerPoint could be controlled directly from the auditorium podium rather than from the control room at the rear of the room. In December 2005, Boulevard completed an audio system upgrade for the auditorium, the center’s common area, and dining area.

System design for the auditorium was based around a Yamaha 01V 96 digital console and four Yamaha Installation series loudspeakers powered by a QSC CX power amp, with an Ashly Protea 4-channel EQ and system manager.
“The Yamaha console is exactly what I was looking for,” says Carlos Oliveras, the center’s supervisor for conferences and AV. “We have five pre-set scenes for various setups in the auditorium that we can recall at anytime. It’s very easy to use, and the sound is great.”
Two Yamaha IF2108 Installation series loudspeakers are flown center stage with Polar Focus flyware, and two Yamaha IF2205 loudspeakers are wall-mounted for side-fills. Both have a 90° x 60° dispersion pattern with rotatable horns.
“The first five rows of seating are tables, each with a microphone,” says James Cioffi, Boulevard Production principal. “We installed new microphones and a Shure SCM810 auto mixer for each of the tables. But the Yamaha O1V was the key to the new system. That brought the Center from 1985 technology to 2006 in one move.”
The common area also received new audio system with four wall-mounted Yamaha IF2205 loudspeakers (two for each area), powered by a QSC CX302 amp with a Yamaha Q2031 stereo graphic EQ.
The common area and dining area also received new audio systems. Each area is a separate zone and covered by four wall-mounted Yamaha IF2205 loudspeakers (two for each area), powered by a QSC CX302 amp with a Yamaha Q2031 stereo graphic EQ. The equipment rack for this subsystem is located inside the auditorium, adjacent to the common area. Music feed is via satellite, and a lav or handheld mic is available to speakers in either zone with automatic music ducking.
