Da-Lite Expands Screen Lines

Da-Lite Screen Co. made several announcements recently regarding new product offerings, beginning with the expansion of its Contour Electrol and Tensioned Contour Electrol motorized projection screens. The lines will now include 16:10 format sizes in response to the introduction of wide-format PCs and laptops that are rapidly making 16:10 the standard for the computer industry. Also new from Da-Lite is a veneer case option on the company’s Large Cosmopolitan Electrol and Large Tensioned Cosmopolitan Electrol screens. The front cover of the Large Cosmopolitan case can be covered with a real wood veneer available in seven standard finishes: light oak, medium oak, natural walnut, heritage walnut, mahogany, cherry, or honey maple. Da-Lite’s Woodshop can also match any custom veneer finish.”The advent of newer and more technology-driven HD digital projectors feature a new generation of optics that make most traditional projection screens obsolete,” said Joe Kane, president of Joe Kane Productions, in a statement.

With a curved aluminum extruded case in black, white, or graphite, the Contour Electrol is available with SCB-100 and SCB-200 (RS-232 serial control board), low-voltage control unit, silent motor, silent motor with low-voltage control, or built-in video projector interface.

Finally, Da-Lite says it has entered into a partnership with consultant Joe Kane Productions (JKP) to design, develop, and manufacture high-definition projection screens for the home theater and film production markets.

One such projector, according to the company, is the Samsung SP-A800B, which was developed with the help of JKP. “Once we had developed the SP-A800B, we realized that traditional projection screens were not able to display the incredible detail or uniformity of the image being produced by the projector,” Kane continued. “We turned to Da-Lite for a solution that would let the professional broadcast community, as well as the home theater viewer, experience the performance of the new Samsung HD technology.”

The collaboration resulted in the new JKP Affinity Screens from Da-Lite. The first products in the JKP Affinity Screen line include HD Progressive proprietary fabrics and feature low gain for a wide viewing angle and previously unseen image uniformity, according to Da-Lite. The Affinity Screens are specifically designed for HD professional broadcast and home theater applications.
