Intelix AV Distribution Gets Twisted
Intelix, a manufacturer of AV equipment and software, announced the release of the DIGI-VGASD-T8R, a professional-grade active balun set that distributes a single VGA video and stereo audio source to eight remote destinations via a single twisted-pair cable.

Additionally, the system extends RS-232 and IR control signals over the same cable, consolidating multiple cable runs to one.
“This is an exciting release for us,” said Cameron Smith, Intelix national sales and marketing manager, in a statement. “Ideal for digital signage, education, corporate audiovisual, hospitality, house of worship, and any other application requiring AV distribution, this product simplifies signal routing by transmitting audio, video, and control over a single, easy-to-pull, inexpensive twisted-pair cable.”
Each set includes one 1×8 distribution amplifier send unit, one receive unit, and two power supplies. Additional modular or wallplate receive baluns are available separately.
Balun set features include 1600×1200 VGA video performance, 20 Hz to 20 kHz audio performance, and IR or bi-directional RS-232 extension up to 350 feet. The DIGI-VGASD-T8R send balun offers local monitor support, while the receive balun has dual outputs and built-in video equalization for a skew-free video performance. The system can be linked for additional remote destinations.
The retail price for the DIGI-VGASD-T8R is $950. Extra receive baluns start at $350.
