Crestron Certs Now Good for Continuing Ed Credits
Crestron announced that its DMC-D and DMC-E certification classes have been accredited for continuing education units by the InfoComm International Certified Technology Specialist (CTS) and CEDIA Certification programs.
Crestron announced that its DMC-D and DMC-E certification classes have been accredited for continuing education units by the InfoComm International Certified Technology Specialist (CTS) and CEDIA Certification programs. Crestron said it wrote the HD Digital Transport and Distribution System (HD-DTDS) Specification to address the unique design challenges of digital systems over analog.

According to Crestron, the HD-DTDS is a design, installation, and commissioning guide that helps guarantee reliable performance of digital AV systems. Crestron DM Designer and Engineer Certification programs ensure that AV professionals are educated and adhere to its specification.

Crestron has invested tremendous resources to develop the technology and products to meet the new challenges of the digital era,” said Vincent Bruno, Crestron director of marketing, in a statement. “InfoComm and CEDIA have now joined us to ensure that our industry partners are properly educated and certified to deliver reliable digital systems.”
Crestron conducts DMC-D and DMC-E classes throughout North America. InfoComm grants 3.5 RU credits for the DMC-D program and 10.5 RUs for DMC-E. The DMC-D program earns the AV professional two CEDIA CEUs, while the DMC-E earns eight.
The DMC-D class is a one-day course that concludes with an exam. The three-day DMC-E Certification program details every aspect of system installation and commissioning, and encompasses the DMC-D certification, plus additional hands-on lab work. Two written exams plus a practicum must be passed to earn DMC-E certification. Only a DMC-E is equipped to execute and support a DM project, according to Crestron, and only dealers with a DMC-E on staff will be qualified to bid on projects designed using the HD-DTDS.
Crestron says it guarantees and fully supports any DM system installation that conforms to the HD-DTDS standards.
