Kramer Electronics introduced its new TP-121/123/125EDID twisted pair transmitters with built-in EDID capture and emulation technology.

Kramer Electronics introduced its new TP-121/123/125EDID twisted pair transmitters with built-in EDID capture and emulation technology. The models are HDTV-compatible and support resolutions up to WUXGA and 1080p, according to the company. The built-in EDID (Extended Display Identification Data) capture and emulation capability ensures accurate signal resolution is output to any monitor connected without the need for an transmitters convert the input signals to twisted pair signal, and transmit them over twisted pair cables to a compatible receiver.  Each transmitter has a system range of more than 300 feet when used with Kramer BC-HDTP or BCP-HDTP twisted pair cable. The TP-121EDID and TP-123EDID transmitters also employ Kramer’s Power Connect feature, where a single connection to each transmitter powers both the transmitter and receiver.

The TP-121/123/125EDID can all store and recall a default EDID setting in non-volatile memory allowing convenient and accurate connection to any source. The devices ensure that if a display is turned off, is temporarily disconnected, or is out of communication with the source, the source continues to output the best possible signal resolution. The EDID emulation makes the source think that the display is still directly connected even when the EDID information is unavailable directly from the monitor.

All three models are computer graphics video and audio line transmitters. They receive a computer graphics video signal and an analog unbalanced stereo audio signal and transmit them over a twisted pair cable to the compatible receiver. They convert the unbalanced stereo analog audio signal to a digital audio (S/PDIF) stream before transmitting, thereby preserving the quality of the original audio signal.

The TP-123EDID transmits unidirectional RS-232 commands from the source to the display over the twisted pair cable together with the computer graphics video and unbalanced stereo audio signals. The TP-125EDID transmits and processes bidirectional RS-232 control command signals in addition to the computer graphics video and unbalanced stereo audio signals.

“This range of these twisted pair transmitters combines simplicity and convenience for the installer”, said David Jayes, chief technology officer for Kramer Electronics, in a statement. “Using a single, cost-effective high quality category cable, they all transmit high-resolution computer graphics video or high-definition video signals together with audio, while the TP-123 and TP-125 offer options for RS-232 communication as well.”
