Polycom has expanded its telepresence portfolio with new 1080p HD solutions, providing customers with the flexibility to adapt telepresence resolution based on their network bandwidth capabilities or specific application needs.

Polycom officials said the company would extend 1080p and broadcast-quality 720p at 60 frames per second across its telepresence product line, including immersive and room telepresence solutions and multipoint infrastructure, for end-to-end support and enhanced quality. As part of the Polycom UltimateHD experience, the solutions will also include HD voice quality in stereo using Siren22 StereoSurround, the ability to simultaneously share multimedia content in HD, and Polycom’s Lost Packet Recovery QoS technology.

Support for 1080p and 720p 60fps will be available on new Polycom RealPresence Experience (RPX) and Polycom Telepresence Experience (TPX) immersive telepresence solutions, the RMX 2000 real-time media conferencing platform, and a new Polycom HDX 8006 room telepresence solution for medium and large conference rooms. The company will also offer programs for qualified RMX 2000 and HDX customers wanting to upgrade their systems to support 1080p and 720p 60fps.

“Customers are looking for telepresence offerings that fit within a broader solution for enterprise-wide visual communication,” said Joe Sigrist, senior vice president and general manager of video solutions at Polycom, in a statement. “These new telepresence offerings [give] customers a range of options for different application, space, and budget requirements that fit within a comprehensive architecture allowing them to video-enable their entire organization..”

The Polycom RPX series are complete room-within-a-room packages, designed to deliver an effective “same room” telepresence experience.
