Hall Research announces the addition of the Model MC4-H2 Dual-Head KVM Switch to its KVM switching and extension product line. The MC4-H2 allows two monitors, one keyboard, and one mouse to control four different PCs or servers. The device features a separate expansion port that allows up to three units to be stacked allowing control of 12 PCs.

The MC4-H2 routes both video outputs from the selected PC at full resolution using wideband video circuits. It sends the signals from the user’s mouse and keyboard to the chosen PC, while, at the same time, emulating a keyboard and a mouse for the unselected PCs allowing them to boot and operate normally under any condition.

The PC selection can be done in three different ways: Front Panel Push-Buttons, Keyboard Hotkeys, or ASCII commands sent to its serial port. In an expanded version, up to three units can be interconnected for a total of 12 PCs. The power supply included with the MC4-H2 can power up to three units through the expansion port so that only one power supply is need in all cases.

The connection to each PC is done via a single DB25 connector on the rear of the unit using a handy cable which fans out to pick up two video ports as well as the mouse and keyboard ports of the PC. The product is housed in a convenient single rack unit (1RU) metal enclosure and has a list price of $1,425
