Offering CEDIA University Education and Certification.

How far would you go to significantly increase your profits, turn your newest employees into savvy pros, or establish instant credibility with potential customers?

You don’t have to go very far at all, because CEDIA is bringing it to you. The new CEDIA University Regional Education program now offers you the EST core curriculum; the finest selection of highly rated CEDIA seminars; comprehensive, free manufacturer product training in two formats; and CEDIA Certification review and exams.

CEDIA University Regionals offer education for new employees, seasoned veterans, and old pros — there is something for everyone. In addition to CEDIA Certification reviews and exams, CEDIA University’s core curriculum is offered for: Electronic Systems Technician, Electronic Systems Design, Electronic Systems Project Management, Electronic Systems Customer Relations, and Electronic Systems Business.

For the first time, CEDIA is offering free manufacturer product training in two completely different formats: active and static. During Active Manufacturer Product training, several manufacturers partner together to offer hands-on training combined with one or more dynamic, active systems. Customized sessions and schedules allow thorough product presentation. Each hour of training counts toward CEDIA Continuing Education Unit (CEU) credits.

Static Product Training also offers focused training on manufacturers’ products. These 90-minute classes utilize presentation materials and lecture material. These classes also count toward CEU credits.

CEDIA University seminars make up the elective portion of the five curricula. Seminars are created and delivered by industry experts. Seminars not only provide an excellent opportunity to stay abreast of new technology and business developments by offering the perspective of experienced professionals, but seminars are also a great way to earn CEUs.

CEDIA Certification is a great tool to show that you have proven skills for your area of expertise. CEDIA Certification also is the product of nationally recognized subject matter experts and one of the leading certification and licensure testing companies in the global market. It’s certification you can trust to take you to the next level — along with your profits. The CEDIA Certification Program is comprised of three sections: Installer Level I, Installer Level II, and Designer.

The early bird registration discount ends April 22. Register today at www.cedia.org/cediau. For more information, visit www.cedia.org/regionals.

ELECTRONIC SYSTEMS PROJECT MANAGEMENT BOOT CAMP

The two-day Electronic Systems Project Management (ESPM) Boot Camp is created to specifically address and assist project leaders with challenges faced in the systems integration industry. Learn how to create a project binder, plan a kick-off meeting, develop a detailed daily logbook, break down a project into phases, create a work breakdown structure, and more. The boot camp is targeted to those responsible for managing custom electronic installations, such as project managers, project engineers, and field supervisors.

The next CEDIA ESPM Boot Camp takes place at the state-of-the-art CEDIA Training Facility in centrally-located Indianapolis on April 20-22. Boot camp runs from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day.

Thanks to the ESPM Boot Camp sponsors (as of Feb. 7): Liberty Wire & Cable, Lutron Electronics, Klein Tools, Monster Cable, Niles Audio Corporation, Sencore, Thomas & Betts, and Xantech.

2005 ELECTRONIC LIFESTYLES AWARDS: CALL FOR ENTRIES

CEDIA’s annual Electronic Lifestyles award competition recognizes the best of the best in the custom install industry. Winning the CEDIA Electronic Lifestyles award competition brings a tremendous amount of credibility to your business. Not only does it showcase your hard work and dedication to your clients, media and the industry, but it also brings a sense of comfort and respect to prospective clients.

Winning a Designer’s Choice award for best home theater, media room, or integrated room is a hard-earned accomplishment, but being able to call your company or employee the CEDIA Dealer or Installer of the Year is a huge milestone.

If your company has not yet been awarded an Electronic Lifestyles award, it’s not too late; the 2005 competition has just begun.

The 2005 Awards competition is the perfect opportunity to highlight your company’s skills, professionalism, and successes. The Dealer of the Year submissions are judged on company structure, professionalism, profitability, growth, recognition in the industry, service to the industry and community, and overall success. You’re probably thinking that only companies big in size have a chance to win this prestigious award. But this award is based on professionalism and profitability, not on size. The judges aren’t even in the custom industry. They are independent parties such as an accountant, an MBA, and an attorney. This opportunity is one that no company, large or small, should pass up. What better way to market your company than being able to say that you are the CEDIA Dealer of the Year?

In addition, the Installer of the Year is one category in which every business owner should submit a nomination of one of their own. This award is granted to an installer who exemplifies a strong work ethic, has the desire to further his/her education in the field of custom installation, and goes the extra mile to make our industry the driving force in cutting-edge technology.

This award will boost staff morale and company recognition. To be nominated for this award says a lot about the individual in itself. Not only does it show support, but it also holds true to the magnificent potential of the future installers in the custom industry. The winner of this award will be given special recognition as well as a $300 gift certificate from CEDIA to attend the CEDIA education event of his or her choice.
