Clarity Visual Systems (www.clarityvisual.com)is working with InFocus Corp. (www.infocus.com) to develop a new class of larger, more compact, and affordable display systems for use by businesses and other commercial and governmental organizations. Together the two companies will revolutionize a new way to deliver business information and reach new markets and customers.

Under a new relationship between the two companies, Clarity will build a new generation of displays based on the InFocus Engine, which integrates proprietary, patent-pending engine and screen technology with a microdisplay device using Texas Instruments’ DLP technology. This engine is also the foundation for the InFocus ScreenPlay microdisplay television recently introduced at the 2004 Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas.

The new Clarity displays will be ultrathin rear-projection systems designed to meet the needs of Clarity’s digital signage and retail customers. Clarity emphasizes it will be slimmer and larger, in sizes ranging up to 70 inches, than other technologies available. These displays will complement the company’s product line of thin-screen LCDs.

“Our customers, including digital signage users such as banks and retail establishments, have expressed strong interest in larger digital displays that are also thinner and lighter,” says Paul Gulick, Clarity’s president and CEO. “We believe that partnering with InFocus allows us to best address these requirements and quickly deliver exciting new offerings to market, which complements the engineering that has produced Clarity’s line of DLP-based displays.”

“This partnership between Clarity and InFocus establishes a new standard of collaboration that promises unique customer benefits, based on our technical strengths, market focus, and brand leadership,” says Scott Hix, senior vice president and general manager, Americas business unit at InFocus. “Together we will redefine how businesses and organizations present visual information to their customers.”

Codevelopment work with InFocus has begun, and the displays based on the InFocus Engine are expected in the latter half of 2004. They will be available through Clarity’s existing reseller channel and its network of independent system integrators worldwide.
