Escient has acquired avACTIVE, a developer of PC/TV convergencetechnologies. Escient’s acquisition of avACTIVE follows the company’sacquisition of StarMatix, Los Gatos, CA. Now known as the Escient DigitalStorage group, StarMatix is managed by Chris Stevens. With the avACTIVEtransaction, Escient acquired the technology related to avACTIVE’s set-topbox that eliminates the need for multiple home entertainment devices.
