Polycom Acquires ASPI

Company ends year with its fourth major purchase of 2001

In its fourth acquisition of 2001, Polycom purchased Atlanta Signal Processors Inc. (ASPI Digital), a manufacturer of products for the voice systems market. Polycom hopes to complement its Acoustic Clarity Technology by incorporating ASPI’s noise cancellation, multichannel acoustic echo cancellation and automatic microphone mixing for larger conferencing applications. Polycom Inc. develops, manufactures and markets voice and video communication endpoints, video management software, multinetwork gateways, and multipoint conferencing and network access solutions.

Polycom also announced the Alliance Management Program, which will provide consultants and integrators with dedicated support and access to Polycom sales support, product materials, training and news.

15-Year Warranty

Home networking industry company OnQ Technologies Inc. announced a new 15-year extended product warranty program to provide qualifying installers with a tool for differentiation in the home networking market. The warranty can be offered by qualifying installers that install a 100%, end-to-end OnQ system in accordance with OnQ guidelines.

Miranda Launches Media Networks

Miranda Technologies announced that it has launched Miranda Media Networks Inc. The opening of the new fully owned subsidiary comes after a $19 million joint investment in Miranda by SGF Tech Inc., a division of the Société générale de financement du Québec, BDC Venture Capital, a division of the Business Development Bank of Canada and Investissement Desjardins.

PSNI Welcomes New Affiliates

Professional Systems Network Inc. has two new affiliates: Crescent Communications Corporation of Kenner, Louisiana, and TEL Systems of Ann Arbor, Michigan.

SBE Awards Three Members

Three members of the Society of Broadcast Engineers were elected by the board of directors as SBE Fellows, the most distinguished award presented to SBE members. The three recipients are David Carr, CPBE of The Woodlands, Texas; Linda Godby of certification director for the SBE, of Sheridan, Indiana; and John Soergel, CPBE, of East Syracuse, New York.

Phonic Corporation Service Center

Professional audio equipment manufacturer Phonic Corporation established a service center in the United States. End users in the U.S. market will now have quicker and better service.
