The executive responsible for overseeing development on the Apple Vision Pro, as well as the company’s upcoming smart glasses, has left the company for OpenAI according to Bloomberg.
Reports suggest that Paul Meade’s decision to leave for OpenAI was prompted by Apple’s ongoing executive shifts, with John Ternus preparing to take the role of CEO. Some hardware executives, including Meade, are reportedly unhappy that the company’s Chip Lead, Johny Srouji, will be moving to fill the void left by Ternus.
Meade joined Apple in 2010, where he began on the iPad and iPhone teams before leading the team responsible for the engineering behind the Apple Vision Pro’s hardware. Meade’s duties at OpenAI are as of yet unknown, other than he is working on upcoming hardware for the company.
