First announced back in 2023, China’s $9 billion 8.6-generation OLED plant has officially began mass production. Located in Chengu, BOE’s B16 plant is scheduled to produce 10 million panels this year, with a higher output estimated for 2027.

A grand opening ceremony was held for the plant, which started production on June 17. Among the attendees were a host of companies including Asus, MSI, Lenovo, Nothing, Vivo, and more.

“We will meet the growing demand for premium displays from customers in China and overseas and become a trusted partner through advanced technologies and high-quality products,” remarked BOE Chairman Chen Yanshun.

The B16 plant is the first 8.6-generation factory in China, able to produce next-gen OLED panels, including those with a tandem structure, at a higher volume with increased cost efficiency.
