Chinese display manufacturer BOE is looking to prepare itself for projected growth for OLED in the IT market by opening China’s first 8.6G OLED production facility.
BOE notably benefits from concessionary state financing, and the manufacturer has grown into a major contender among OLED panel suppliers, with Apple rumored to be testing the company’s panels for upcoming devices. The upcoming plant will be an 8.6G production facility, meaning it can produce at larger volumes for increased efficiency and lower cost, and will be the first of its kind in the country.
The company’s announcement reveals the cost of the production plant’s construction is around $9 billion USD.
