DJI updates its wireless mic system with 32-bit float recording, dedicated receiver

Two transmitters are clip-on and mount-ready for a variety of use cases

While DJI may be best known for its drone technology, the company forayed into the audio market in 2022 with the DJI Mic, a wireless microphone system positioned for content creation. Now DJI is releasing the Mic 2, bringing with it a slew of updates and added features.

Like its predecessor, the DJI Mic 2 is comprised of two mountable clip-on 28g omnidirectional transmitters. The new model features integrated noise suppression, internal 32-bit float recording, and an improved battery life that now lasts about 6 hours. While the Mic 2 still features smartphone pairing via Bluetooth, new is an included receiver with a 1.1-inch OLED touchscreen and its own dedicated battery. The transmission range from transmitter to receiver is 820 ft when unobstructed.

Also new to the Mic 2 is an optional double track recording, which can record a second track simultaneously at lower gain to prevent audio spikes.

“DJI Mic 2 represents a leap forward in audio recording technology,” says DJI’s Paul Pan. “We’ve combined high-quality recording functions, user-friendly designs, and noteworthy stability to empower content creators with the tools they need to capture extraordinary audio, no matter where their creativity takes them.”

The DJI Mic 2 is available $349 and comes with a charging case, two transmitters, receiver, windscreen, and cables. A $219 option is also available that includes only one transmitter.
