HDR10+ Advanced begins rollout

Samsung's new standard comes with enhanced brightness and color depth

To compete with Dolby Vision 2, Samsung has announced that it has begun the rollout of HDR10+ Advanced, the next generation of its HDR10+ technology.

“HDR10+ ADVANCED is the next evolution of the HDR10+ standard and is specifically designed to empower today’s most advanced televisions — which have achieved ever larger screen sizes, higher peak brightness, greater color depth and increased processing power — while satisfying the requirements of leading content distribution services,” says Samsung.

The new standard builds on previous HDR versions by now offering color upscaling, adaptive motion smoothing, and more. HDR10+ Advanced has begun its rollout with the Prime Video streaming service, available to those with a 2026 Samsung TV. While Dolby Vision 2 has begun rolling out to select Hisense TVs, there is as of yet no Dolby Vision 2 content available, which means that HDR10+ Advanced will be getting a head start with consumers.

While the standard is currently only rolling out to 2026 Samsung TVs, the company says that there is planned support for other models to grow the HDR10+ ecosystem, which will be revealed in the near future.
