IKEA USB charger recalled due to burn and electric shock hazard

Over 30,000 of the recalled device were sold in the U.S. and Canada

A recall has been issued for the ÅSKSTORM 40W USB Charger sold by IKEA due to “burn and electric shock hazards.” According to The United States Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), over 30,000 of these chargers were sold between April 2020 through December 2023 in the United States and Canada.

The CPSC says that IKEA has received 17 incident reports concerning the product so far, including five reports of burns and four reports of electric shock. The issue is caused by degradation of the charger’s cable over time, which can lead to electric hazards.
