LG recently unveiled its latest windshield display technology, called the Ultraview Windshield Display. Designed to keep drivers’ eyes safely on the road, the technology projects driving data on the windshield at different perceived distances, depending on how important the information is. Metrics projected on the windshield include navigation data, media data, and driving speed.
In addition to road data, a virtual screen is projected for media and climate controls. The display vanishes when the vehicle is turned off, leaving no tinting on the glass. The effect is created by a hybrid optical unit hidden inside the dashboard, which bounces light off the windshield.
