Meta designs its own smart glasses without Ray-Ban

Meta's new glasses ditch the Ray-Ban branding and integrated screen for a cheaper price-point

This week saw Meta announce a new line of smart glasses, this time without any Ray-Ban or Oakley branding. Instead, the company has said they are of its own design, and come at a cheaper price-point than those under the EssilorLuxottica brands.

Though they fall under Meta’s own brand, the new Meta Glasses are still made in partnership with EssilorLuxottica in order to offer a number of lens types, including polarized, Transition, and clear options. Unlike some of Meta’s previous offerings, the Meta Glasses do not feature an integrated screen, but do include a built-in camera, open-ear speakers, and a multi-mic array featuring wind-noise reduction.

Meta Glasses come in three styles: the Meta Adventurer, Meta Fury, and Meta Glasses by Kylie. A wide number of style, color, and lens combinations are available, and Meta says that customers can swap out their lenses with prescription options after purchase. The glasses leverage Meta Spark, the first AI model out of Meta Superintelligence Labs, built specifically for Meta products.

“With this version of Meta AI, your AI glasses will deliver smarter answers on everything from sports scores to local restaurant picks, better understand what you’re seeing, and help manage your daily life effortlessly,” the company writes.

Meta Glasses start at $299, at least $80 less than the least expensive second-gen Meta Ray-Ban option. The new glasses come with a charging case that the company claims deliver up to 40 hours of additional battery life.
