AR startup Mira acquired by Apple

Mira's technology is currently in use at Nintendo World and Air Force bases.

A growing Los Angeles-based AR startup that has contracts with the US Air Force and Navy, as well as Universal Studios’ Nintendo World, has been acquired by Apple.  The news, originally spotted by The Verge and later confirmed by Apple, comes right after the company’s huge Apple Vision Pro reveal.

Mira, which has raised $17 million in funding, reportedly used to have Apple’s former design chief Jony Ive in an advisor role. Mira’s current contract with the Air Force is for use of the company’s Prism Pro headsets, and their technology is used for rider’s headsets at the Nintendo World Mario Kart ride. It’s unclear whether these contracts will continue under Apple.
