Shoei, a company with experience in AR helmets, has collaborated with Eyelights to develop the new GT-Air 3 Smart. The helmet takes advantage of Eyelights’ experience with GPS and heads-up displays, integrating a virtual display into the visor to show riders crucial information.
The GT-Air 3 Smart displays pertinent information including speed and navigation as a projected image, appearing to the wearer as if it was roughly 10 feet ahead of them. This means wearers don’t need to take their eyes off the road to read information, keeping things safer.
The helmet is integrated with a noise-cancelling microphone, speakers, antenna, and a battery that the company claims is good for over 10 hours before needing a charge. Tactile controls are available on the side of the helmet.
The GT-Air 3 Smart is currently available for preorder in Europe for roughly $1,500. No word yet for a US release, but the GT-Air product line has historically been made available in the US after a European launch.
