Samsung has announced that its previously unveiled glasses-free 3D monitor is now available for preorder. The Samsung Odyssey 3D monitor features 27-inches of screen space and 4K resolution, and uses eye-tracking and a proprietary lenticular lens to deliver what Samsung calls “a natural-looking high-definition 3D image.”
Installing Samsung’s Reality Hub app is required to make games appear in 3D, but the monitor also utilizes AI conversion technology to convert 2D video to 3D. To further the 3D ecosystem, Samsung says it has been actively collaborating with game developers to usher in more native 3D content.

“The partnering developers now have an unprecedented level of control over 3D effects, enabling them to bring their creative visions to life with precision,” the company says. “Samsung plans to continuously expand its partnerships with more global game studios.”
In addition to its 4K display and lenticular lens, the monitor features A 165Hz refresh rate and 1ms Gray-to-Gray (GtG) response time, as well as support for AMD FreeSync Premium and NVIDIA G-SYNC technologies.
The Samsung Odyssey 3D is expected to launch for a retail price of $1,999.99. A release date has not been revealed, but reservations for a preorder slot are available until April 8, which include a $50 credit towards purchase.
