Samsung’s speaker disguised as picture frame to release soon

Preorders available now

We finally have details regarding the pricing and availability of the Samsung Music Frame, the wireless speaker revealed at this year’s CES.

Inspired by the successful series of TV Models, the Music Frame hides in plain sight as a picture frame. According to Samsung, the 13.8in x 13.8in x 2.1in frame hides a 3-way stereo speaker that features patented wide-range technology to allow it to fill a room by itself. The company claims that its Dolby Atmos support allows the speaker to approach surround-sound immersion solo, and Samsung’s Q-Symphony technology is supported when the frame is paired with a Samsung TV and/or soundbar.

Additional bezel color options, including white, are to be made available this summer. The bezels are swappable to allow users to customize their Music Frame. Remember there’s no digital screen here; the Music Frame takes physical photos only, with its viewable photo area measuring 8in x 8in.

The Samsung Music Frame is priced at $399.99, and releases April 12 with preorders available now.

The following was originally published January 8, 2024:

A new sibling to Samsung’s Frame TV line has been announced at CES this year. The Frame has been a massive hit for the company for its blend of functionality and aesthetics, and Samsung is continuing that trend for Music Frame, a wireless speaker disguised as a picture frame.

According to Samsung, Music Frame features a pair of rear-firing woofers, along with two tweeters and two mid-range drivers, supports Dolby Atmos, and possesses a “wide radial sound range.” The frame can be used as a stand-alone Bluetooth speaker, or it can be paired with a Samsung TV and/or soundbar via Q-Symphony to create a surround sound system.

While there will apparently be several frames to choose from to match one’s decor, curiously, the Music Frame lacks the LED display of its TV cousin, instead holding physical pictures that need to be manually switched out, functioning like a traditional picture frame. That said, the Music Frame features a built-in smart hub and responds to voice input for hands-free control of music. While it includes a built-in stand, the speaker comes ready to be wall-mounted.

No pricing or availability has been announced yet, but more information on Samsung’s Music Frame is expected to release soon.
