Sonos its targeting the professional market with the Amp Multi, the company’s first new product in over a year. Unlike the bulk of its portfolio, Sonos says the Amp Multi was designed to make complex residential audio installations “simpler, more flexible, and more scalable.”
Developed in collaboration with integrators, the Amp Multi features eight outputs with 125 watts each, and four configurable zones. “We heard from integrators they needed a system that could adapt as designs evolve, but without complicating installs or homeowner friction,” explains Sonos.
Any of the Amp Multi’s eight outputs supports up to three Sonos Architectural speakers. As each output can be assigned to any zone, the Amp Multi allows for scalability in high speaker count systems.
“We created Amp Multi with integrators at the heart of every decision, drawing on their deep understanding of real-world installation challenges to design a product around how they actually work,” said Chris Heintzelman, VP, Product at Sonos. “The goal was to reduce friction at every stage of a project, from installation and setup to system tuning. This is about giving professionals more control while keeping the system approachable for the people who live with it every day.”
No official release date or pricing has been announced, but Sonos says that the Amp Multi will become available in the coming months through the company’s installation partners.
