Tokyo Lights 2026 has made over the Nishi-Shinjuku skyscraper district with 12 large art installations. Shinjuku Chuo Park is currently the home to several light sculptures, with the program handled by Kenji Kohashi, the creative director of Ultra Japan. As usual, the Tokyo Metropolitan Government building is being treated to a projection light show for this year’s festival.

Featured exhibits in the park include Gaia, a 23-foot globe by UK artist Luke Jerram. Gaia features 120-dpi imagery of Earth taken from NASA, giving the globe a highly detailed, lifelike appearance. Visible Tower is a tower-like structure constructed from LED displays that are programmed to blend in with their surroundings during the day, and transition to show cosmic effects and AI-generated imagery as night falls.
