It hasn’t even been two full months since Lenovo unveiled its ThinkBook Plus Gen 6 Rollable, and the tech company is already showing off a new concept for expanded screen real-estate in a laptop. While the ThinkBook Plus Gen 6 Rollable is launching as an official product this year, the device is showing off this week at MWC in Barcelona is, so far, just an interesting concept model.
Currently named the ThinkBook Flip AI PC Proof-of-Concept, this laptop forgoes the rollable screen for one that folds outwards, expanding from 13- to 18.1-inches at a moment’s notice. Both the Rollable and foldable concept model utilize the same flexible OLED display, just in different ways. The Flip AI concept can expand into a single large screen, fold backwards and stand in a tent-like fashion to create two screens facing away from each other, or fold completely to become a sort of 2-in-1 tablet. In addition to its multipurpose screen, Lenovo is showing off what it calls Smart ForcePad, allowing its trackpad to become its own illuminated display. Use cases shown by Lenovo include turning the trackpad into a numpad for calculator functions, or using it to create customizable shortcuts.
