The 2024 Olympic Games are well underway in Paris, and were kicked off with an immense opening ceremony last weekend. The four-hour ceremony culminated in a massive projection mapping and light show of the Eiffel Tower, where the national landmark was transformed into a moving, pulsating entity that came alive as a musical score was played. The show was created in partnership with French engineer Pierre Bideau, who completely overhauled the tower’s lighting system in 1985 and is responsible for the nightly lighting of the landmark. At the climax of the show, the Olympic athletes were carried by 85 boats down the Seine to officially start the games.
